I love E. Claire and Pastries! They have amazing fruit oat bars and I absolutely love their quiches! They come with a homemade biscuit that is always a wonderful treat. They are super reasonably priced and I am so glad I have found them!
I had a smore's bar and I planned on eating just half as they are a good side - I could not stop eating it! I wrapped up half and put it in the fridge, walked away, and turned back around and had to finish the rest!
Apparently this place has been open for about a year. The location in the mill does not make it very visible when you pass by. I came across it by accident, looking at an activity for one of my sons. The flier mentioned that lunch would be provided by E. Claire and pastries. I had no idea about the business, so I looked it up and made a mental note to swing by and grab a cupcake.The shop is on the back side of the Bates Mill. Across the canal from...canal st; if the view is not blocked by trucks, you can see the store front from canal st.The space is really clean and is truly really nice.Can never try just one thing when I visit a place for the first time, so I got a cupcake and a brownie.The cupcake was chocolate cake and frosted with a mint frosting. The cake was the best I've had in the L/A area tender, moist and chocolatey. The frosting was among the best I've ever had. The combination of the chocolate cake and perfectly balanced mint frosting will ensure I make another trip soon (my sons love the chocolate/mint combination as well).The brownie was a good mix of fudgy and cakey, a topic that can quickly come to blows at any of my family functions. I really think it could appease supporters of both sides. Again though, the standout was the frosting. The brownie was frosted with a peanut butter frosting that was fantastic, light, not overly sweet and most importantly, very peanut buttery.Will definately be back for future sweet tooth fixes and cake/cupcake needs.
